Dog Friendly Calgary

The sun is shining and we’re excited for another season with our best friend in tow! To get you ready for patio season, we’ve put together a few of our favourite, dog-friendly spots in Calgary so you and Fido can soak up the sun together!

LOUGHEED HOUSE

Did you know Lougheed House is an “official” on-leash dog park?! The Lougheed House Gardens are dog-friendly and are a great place for a picnic or day in the sun. Built in 1891, Lougheed House is a National and Provincial Historic Site. It’s not often that designated historic sites are dog-friendly so take advantage of the opportunity to teach your pup about history (but be careful- they may fall in love with history and pursue a History degree at the University of Calgary, becoming the first recipient of a History Dog-torate.)

COLD GARDEN

On a sunny summer day, nothing beats a cold drink with friends- including pets! Cold Garden, a microbrewery in historic Inglewood, has a year-round patio and is always pet-friendly. Yes, all pets! While they love #dogsofColdGarden, they welcome all types of pets and have treats and water bowls to ensure your pet is just as comfy as you are!

GRAB A COLD ONE

VILLAGE ICE CREAM

While ice cream is often consumed outside in the sun and therefore is dog friendly, we have to mention Village Ice Cream for their gourmet ice cream and their ‘Dogs of Village Pint’. Available in August at all 5 Village locations, the ‘Dogs of Village Pint’ is ice cream made just for your pup! As a bonus, $1.00 of every puppy pint and scoop sold in August will go to the Canadian Animal Task Force, an amazing local charity that takes care of the companion animals who need it most!

SNAG A SCOOP

FOUR DOGS BREWING COMPANY

Drinking craft beers, that are all named after dogs, with your dog, in a taproom literally created because of 4 amazing dogs… No, you’re not dreaming, we’re talking about Four Dogs Brewing Co! Their dog-friendly taproom is on 1st Street SW, just 3 blocks from our Downtown location, so you can pick up your pup from Daycare and keep the happy-dog vibes going. Take a look at their current beers on tap and be sure to read about the wonderful dogs who inspired each drink.

VIN ROOM

Sip and soak up the sun on the Vin Room patio with your pup by your side. Vin Room welcomes well-behaved dogs who meet City of Calgary Bylaws, including vaccines and licensing. They’ve even hosted pup-specific events, like Pooches & Prosecco, and support local pet charities, so keep an eye on their Instagram @vinroomyyc for upcoming events for you and your pooch!

CANNIBALE

If you’ve been looking for your new go-to for Happy Hour AND a new barbershop, meet Cannibale. Enjoy your Old Fashioned on the patio of this speakeasy-vibe restaurant and bar, or soak up the sun with your pup for a delicious weekend brunch! START PLANNING YOUR PATIO NIGHT!

Calgary’s winter has been long, and then there was second winter…and third.. But the days are getting longer and the air is getting warmer and we promise, underneath that snow is green grass! Calgary has a wide variety of dog-friendly spots and restaurants, many of which are locally owned small businesses. We always recommend checking each location for updates on their dog policies before you go. Enjoy tasty drinks, great company and the comfort of your furry best friend by your side all summer long!
